The Children's Museum of Indianapolis...

With the soaring temperatures the past few weeks, EV's play time outside has been limited.  She can handle the heat...I cannot.  It's just too hot people, 104 degrees...no thank you!  For a while we've been wanting to take her to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis but haven't gotten around to it, until this past week. This museum is supposed to be one of the biggest and best in the Midwest so we were pretty excited.  Only an hour and a half away, we manage the travel time well.

The day started with her falling asleep right when we got there. To her defense, it was nap time but I was not really looking forward to waking a sleeping baby. For a micro second we debated driving around for some time until she woke up naturally. Why didn't we choose this idea?  Could it have something to do with the neighborhood looking like this?

Yes, a lot of run down, boarded up houses.  And in the middle of all of this?

The museum is amazing. Boasting 5 stories and endless exhibits, I figured we were in for a long day.  Unfortunately the toddler section was closed for remodeling so I was starting to get nervous this wasn't going to go as well as I had hoped.  It was my idea to bring her and Ed here and I was anxious about them enjoying everything. You know when you ask someone to go to a movie with you because you really want to see it? I feel bad if the movie isn't up to par since it was my idea to go.  Same idea...

Even though the toddler section was closed I should have never doubted my little baby (who is growing up so fast) would have fun. Ok, on to the pictures of Everkins...

There will a million kids around this Hot Wheels exhibit...mostly all boys. The way they were all grabbing for cars made me think of Lord of the Flies. EV had no problem wiggling her way to the table to get cars and then as you can see in the next picture, if you were taking too long to let go of your car, she just put hers in front. I was pretty proud of how she fought her way to the front. I didn't take the time to give her a lesson waiting her turn because frankly, sometimes you have to go make life happen.

Her favorite food right now are bananas. She calls them apples, every fruit is an apple. Yesterday I swear she called it an "anna" so we're headed in the right direction.

They have a carousel from the 1930s (or something like that). It was rescued and now you can stand in line and ride it. She wasn't old enough to do the horses which go up and down. With the line so long we only rode once. But she loved it.

See? Loved it!

Loved the lights.

There was a house of mirrors and EV enjoyed one of the corners for a while. The lighting was terrible and it was so low to the ground with a top on it I could barely get down there to take pictures. Anyways, EV loved seeing multiples of herself!
