The Great Keogh Christmas Tour of 2011 was a major success
Ed and I visited New Orleans for the first time - amazing
We attended the Michigan vs. Virginia Tech Sugar Bowl - not the greatest game but fun experience
Attended a play date with high school classmates - 5 kids between the 3 of us, range of 11 months to 5 years
Started the 2012 season - and also 7 work days a week until June
Reverend Noffke baptized EV and my brother, Billy, was able to attend as EV's lone godparent - it had been exactly a year since the last time we saw him (EV was 4 months old, so much has changed)
EV has been showing more and more personality. Just today when Ed and I were relaxing on her bed (she sleeps on a double mattress on the floor) she went to the door and motioned for us to let her out into the living room. We asked for 1 more minute and instead she just opened the door herself, like it was no big deal. No big deal??? It is a big deal, our method of keeping her contained by shutting doors is over. No more sitting on the computer and letting her roam all over the house, knowing she can't get into the bathroom or our bedroom (not baby proofed areas, at all)...she has opened up a whole new world for her and I doubt she even knows.
Continuing on her "I'm awesome, let me show you how smart I am" kind of day, she took my cell phone and called my parent's home phone. Now, she's called Ed before since it is just a simple button but to call my parents meant she at least had to get to a different screen, hit their name and then the call button. I know she didn't call them on purpose, but gone are the days of letting her play with my phone and not worrying she'll call someone random, or worse, a recruit! Yikes!
She can turn the TV on and off, throws her arms up when there is a touchdown, identifies pictures of herself by saying "that's me" (ok, only we can identify her speech), she sees a cat and makes a la-la-la-la-la noise with her tongue. She'll say "thank you" when given something (once again, it only makes sense to us) and her endless kisses and hugs are some of the greatest feelings in my life. She scratches her belly when Ed reaches the "dugout" page of her book, she can find her belly button when asked (though asking her to find her nose or any other body part also results in her belly button), and just today she will turn around and shake her butt when I ask her to show me her booty.
Telling her "no" results in a total meltdown and all she wants is to be hugged. Same thing for if someone gets hurt. Today she dropped her little Elmo microphone on my eye. I didn't yell out or anything but I grabbed my face since it hurt immediately following. She knew I was hurt and broke out into full out cry, giving me hugs and wanting to crawl up on my chest. EV is a very sweet and caring baby.
I am filled with love every time I see her smiling face, especially coming home from a long day. She runs from her bedroom, arms out stretched, screaming in such a high pitch I swear only dogs can hear her at times. I always thought she was coming to give me a hug but then she stops, just short, and turns around screaming, wanting me to chase her. Eventually I catch her and give her kisses galore. Many people I know are either having or are pregnant with their 2nd child. It is definitely something Ed and I would like but that plan is for God to know. I love the blessing He has given us endlessly and tirelessly.
Speaking of being tired......
