So I found this article through facebook about the legality of Pinterest. It's a long read, and as the author points out, cannot be taken as actual legal advice. However, it does start raising some questions about what would happen if someone wasn't happy about having their work repinned. A lot of things on Pinterest seem like they are begging to be shared with the world, designed perfectly to have a single picture display one great idea. But what if someone didn't want to have it shared in this manner?
The author of the article (a photographer and lawyer - the first makes me inherently trust her, the second inherently distrust her) shows Pinterest's Terms of Use demands people have license to post the pictures they are pinning. I don't own ANY of the things I pin, so I've decided to stop pinning. I am taking down my boards (which aren't that full anyways) and instead going to store the information here on the blog. I'll probably put them all under a similar title or tag the word pin for all of them. Just a little warning you will start seeing more and more art projects listed here. Bear with me and if they bore you, just don't read them :)
