Thanksgiving...chicken?

I started writing this post on November 23...and am now just actually doing this.

I read this article today (it popped up on my phone, do NOT think I watch fox news regularly...or at all).  It's all about soaring BPA levels in canned food.  Of course, being the paranoid consumer I instantly think of all the canned soup Ed eats and feeds to EV as well.  The extremist in me came to the conclusion we will only have fresh soup from now on and it's super easy and I'll always have it available and I'll be mom of the year and...yeah, I'm not very realistic.

But I did start doing a search on home made soup.  I've only made it once and Ed likes the vegetable beef.  It came out fine, just a bitch to store.  Took up a lot of the fridge and I think he got tired of it after a week.  Looking at all the recipes I noticed quite a few use can beef stock...well this goes against the entire reason I'm doing this!

Update: I made vegetable beef soup.  I'm guessing I either made way too much or it sucked since a container of it went bad in the fridge and we have 2 more containers in the freezer, untouched.  I get the hint Ed.  So instead of making soup for my "I can't seem to make any food you like but all you ever eat is pasta so why do I try" husband, I'm going to make some I would actually like...and we're starting from scratch.

Like, whole chicken scratch.  Yep.  Today my challenge is to crock pot a whole chicken.  I guess it isn't really my challenge since I don't have to do anything, just clean out the bird, take the skin off, spice it all up and place into the crock pot.  I have a feeling with the threat of salmonella and "cleaning out the bird" this all may take longer than I thought. All the stuff should just be in a pack in the bird but I'm pretty sure the little girl in me will dance around doing the "this is gross" dance while making a face.

Anyways, here's what I'm doing today and after a grocery store run, this is what I'll be doing after.  Then onto making chicken noodle soup...for me and baby girl.
