I got a job. Not just any job, a GREAT job. This is the reason I haven't updated in forever. I've had the job for a while but it was all unofficial so I couldn't say anything. But not anymore...totally official and I even went recruiting this past weekend. I am now an assistant coach at Indiana University.
There are numerous reasons why Ed and I chose Indiana. First off, it's in the Big Ten. I'm a Big Ten girl, what can I say? We loved the coach and her energy (former Hutch player), the area was great to raise EV, the program is building (a new field is coming after next season), and the campus is gorgeous. I truly feel Indiana is a great place for so many different types of people and athletes and once you get a recruit on campus I've got to believe the weight room itself will win them over!
My official first day in the Cream and Crimson was July 5...which I spent wearing Maize and Blue at Michigan's camps. Ed and I are heading to Bloomington separately (I'm coming from Columbus, OH and him from Ann Arbor) and have numerous viewings in the next two days...7 to be exact. We need to find a place this week because I need to get down to Bloomington to actually work. Ed put in his 2 weeks notice at work and used up his vacation so now he only has to work 2 days in the next 2 weeks. We're staying in a hotel for a few days and then headed back to AA to pack, Ed work, see friends and hopefully move down. AHHHHHHHH, let the craziness begin!!!!!!!!
I'm really going to miss Ann Arbor and the people I've gotten to know over the last 7 years. Of course I'm going to miss the players, the staff, my friends, Ed's friends, great Ann Arbor life, being close to Ed's family...we had a great time living in Ann Arbor. I'm pretty sure most of all we're going to miss Claudius. He has lived with Ed for...ever? I don't know how long they've lived together, longer than 7 years though. I met him when I moved into our Brookridge house and then when Ed and I got married it was a given he would continue living with us when we moved. When Ed and I had EV it was a given he would continue living with us. Now that we're moving to Indiana however, it's no longer a given. If he was able to find a job in Bloomington, I'd take him. He is an incredibly sweet man who puts up a tough (and awkward?) front. He loves EV and she always smiles when he comes upstairs to get ready for work. I never once worried about EV in his care because I knew he would do anything to keep her safe and happy. He always had some strange project going on downstairs: wand building, paper mache-ing some sort of mask, costume sewing, zombie killing weapon making, weird apoxy-ing of anything, I still don't understand why there is a small shark looking thing suspended in some sort of resin, in a jar, with a decorative top...you get the picture, weird stuff going on. But it always had a good story. I would walk into the storage room downstairs and there would be a plastic skull hanging from the ceiling, drying after some sort of paint was applied. You never knew what to expect.
congrats! That is where Mike went to school...I'm sure we could arrange a visit :)
