My Little Crawler!

Ed and I both decided, independent of each other, that today we can offically say EV crawls! Previously she had forward movement but mostly she would try to go forward and instead, scoot backwards. Now, you put a toy in front of her and she gets to it! Sometimes it's still awkward, such as when she straightens random limbs and winds up pulling her entire lower body forward. Her strength is amazing. We went to the library yesterday (and Bennys AND Coldstone...) for storytime, singing, and dancing! Ok, we missed storytime (what can I say, I'm a Marx/Schreiber/married to Ed Keogh) but we got there for singing and dancing. EV loved the guitar, I should really break mine out, and enjoyed playing with the other kids. It also gives a great way to see other babies, parents, and parenting. We don't know a lot of people with babies who live around us (ok no one within 30 miles) so this is our parent interaction. Looking at the sizes of some of the babies, EV could eat some of them. She is just a bit smaller than the 1 year olds, remember she's just over 6 months, and much bigger than the other babies around her age. Everyone commented on how strong she was since she was sitting up and crawling around. I'm proud of our little girl.

Anyways, today she can offically go forward and get there rather efficiently. It makes me think of not only the little tiny baby we brought home who could not even hold her own head up but of Thursday, September 23. This was the day I had my scheduled checkup at the hospital for EV to do some tests to see how she was doing. I was due on the 18th and that day came and went. The doctor was concerned about my blood pressure spiking so my next appointment scheduled for the 27th got moved up to the 23rd. It was at the hospital and the doctor performed a non-stress test (or maybe it was a stress test, I don't know the difference). The idea was they would measure how much Baby Viking moved around. Well, no movement. A loud buzzer was put up to my stomach to irritate our little baby and prompt movement. No movement. I was admitted shortly thereafter and a whopping 42 hours later, EV came into the world!

What I'm really taking in today is that our little baby who wouldn't move can now be found in every corner of our living room, tracking down every toy, smiling the entire time. I am so proud of her and I can tell she's pretty impressed too. Her eyes light up when she reaches a toy that at one time may have been out of reach. Now, phase 2 of baby proofing, here I come!!!
