The craziness that is life with EV

I can't believe January flew by! EV is so healthy and definitely thriving. She had her 4 month doctor appointment on the 25th and she weighed 15 lbs 12 ounces (my guess was 15 lbs 8 ounces) which puts her in the 96th percentile in weight and she's something like the 95th percentile for height. I can't believe how fast she is developing! I'm posting some pictures at the end but at the beginning of the month she was struggling to do tummy time. We only had her doing it for 5 minutes at a time. Just this week she did it for 45 minutes in the morning! Our next big thing developmentally is being able to sit up. The doctor asked if she could and Ed said no since we haven't even really tried. The doc said that's ok since they just want to make sure she can hold her head up (which she definitely can do). So after that I went on this "my baby needs to sit up" kick. Well, Feb. 1 she can sit up on her own. It's crazy! She still will fall backwards sometimes and every not and then she gets too far left or right, but for the most part, she can sit up. She uses her arms for balance and she can even pick up her arms to reach for a toy. It's unbelievable to me!

Another major item happening in January was EV got to meet her Uncle Billy! He was home on leave from the Navy which meant he only had 10 days at home. His total leave is 14 days but it takes an entire day to get him here from Japan and an entire day to fly back. I was so impressed with how great he was with EV. Seriously, he wanted to spend as much time with her as possible. It was great to see him again but I still think of him as my little brother when in fact he is a grown 23 year old man. That blows my mind!

Last major milestone in January: TEETH! EV now has two teeth, the first one showed up January 16th and the next one only 2 days later. So far that's all we have for teeth. I'm still getting used to seeing the teeth in her pictures. They're now high enough that when she smiles you can see them.

When I mentioned to someone that she now has teeth they said I better get all the toothless smiles I can because she'll never have that again. It actually bummed me out for a few days. I had to pull myself out of the funk because Ed and I had always said that we're not going to look backwards at things but instead celebrate her development. We'll see how I feel about that when she starts school or driving! AH!
Today I discovered EV laughs like crazy if you pick her legs up (I was saying, "check the baby butt") and then have them go side to side like a pendulum ("check the leggies"). I love when she laughs. It's priceless. I also took her to the women's basketball game last night. It was her first time in Chrysler Arena and her first time out for a while. It has been SO cold and our schedules are tough so it's hard to get her out to places. She was great at the game, only yelled once for food. The band really had her attention but it did take her a little bit to get used to the noise. I covered her ears when the horn went off which meant I had to pay attention. I tried to explain what was going on but my vast basketball experience (I only played in 7th and 8th grade) did not give me much to go off of. Ok, now on to the pictures.
