First Smile

Ok, I have no photo proof (I tried but when I grabbed my camera she was no longer in the mood to play but instead wanted to eat RIGHT AWAY) but I swear EV had her first real smile last night. She's been smiling before she falls asleep so that never really counted but she was wide awake this time and it was a moment she could actually smile.

Every night I put her in this double swaddle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOnsKlluHIg) which Ed calls a baby straight jacket. She's so good at getting out of the regular swaddle and her hands stimulate her too much. They keep her awake and when she's sleeping they wake her up. She loves her hands. So being the mean mommy that I am I keep her hands from her so I can selfishly get some sleep.

This double swaddle is great! We only wrap her in it at night which is our version of early sleep training. When she's wrapped this way we hope we're signally to her that it's night time and she needs to sleep for more than 1 hour. Who knows, it probably doesn't work but we're trying. When I got her up last night I noticed her little hand creeping out from under the blanket. She had broken the swaddle! My little Houdini had escaped! I was so proud of her and excited that my voice got much higher and louder. I was smiling at her and telling her what a great job she did. Then I swear she was smiling up a storm. I tested it by stopping talking and then starting in with the congratulations again. Yep, once again, smiles!

I'm excited to get a photo since I think it's adorable. Her smile takes up her entire face and it's a huge open mouth one. Her cheeks are getting much bigger so it must take some force to move those suckers! I will keep my camera by me at all times, I'm going to get a picture!
