July 4th Cleaning

Ed and I spent the entire 4th of July cleaning our house. With school, softball, being pregnant and Ed working the night shift I cannot remember the last time anyone actually cleaned in our house. Claudius does dishes and he is very orderly but Ed and I are doom together. Clothes pile up, papers multiply and nothing gets put away. So today we did a full clean. We're still in the process and it will take until tomorrow but I'm happy with the results.

Our bedroom will also be Baby Viking's bedroom so we needed to clear out some space. We moved the small couch downstairs with a side table and now my desk, book shelf and computer are housed in that corner of the living room. The coffee table that dad made long ago will now be in front of the couch once we clear out the stuff in the middle of the living room. Eventually we will move Ed's mom's dresser downstairs to make room for the crib and a rocking chair. I bought curtains, new sheets and some decorative items for the bedroom to make it more like ours. We are going to paint the room a blue/gray color in August to make it more of a sanctuary for Baby Viking (although really it is for me).

I spent almost $200 on the room supplies and that doesn't include the paint. Overall though I am pretty impressed with how much I was able to purchase for that amount. I presented the final budget to the "Family Board" (Ed if I'm presenting, me if he's presenting) and he approved. I found this luxurious curtain for the small window in the bedroom. It is silk and was only $15 because there was only one and it has the strangest measurements, 40" x 108". It just fits across the window and of course it is WAY too long, but since we're moving our bed you won't even know. Once I put the curtain up I hope it looks like some sort of a headboard. The curtains I got for the huge window wound up being cotton shower curtains. All other curtains were ridiculously expensive and out of the question. I actually liked the designs of the shower curtains better and figured it didn't make much of a difference if they belonged on a shower or on a window. They're going to be just short of what I want so I may have to make some alterations and add some fabric. Also, we're going to move a bench in from the garage to place at the end of our bed. I figured it would be a nice place to sit when I'm holding Baby Viking.

Ed is sleeping right now, he worked so hard today. Most of the mess in our house is my fault but he would never admit that. I'm excited for the moment I crawl into bed, my back has been rough today and it could use a nice bed.

All is well with Baby Viking. The movements have gotten less "kicky" and more "twisty" like Baby Viking is rolling around and running out of real estate. The Lamaze classes are great and I love attending them, partly so I learn about the birthing process but more so Ed can show how supportive he will be during the whole pregnancy. Really he's a champ, especially since I have to wake him up a few hours early to attend class (since he works nights). Baby has been moving around a lot but in the past few days every time I tell Ed to watch Baby Viking make my belly jump it's like Baby Viking gets shy and doesn't want to dance around anymore.

That's all for me. Last bit of cleaning then I'm off to bed. Camp work to finish tomorrow...like how am I going to run this camp. Kind of a big deal.
