Sippy Cups

When EV was 6 months old I was in the height of my travel for the season.  Both Ed and I were exhausted since it was taking all we had to keep on top of things...like parenting.  One day it hit Ed that our little 6 month old was being treated like she was still 3 months.  She had no schedule and we were not transitioning into solid foods.  One we established her sleep schedule (we're STILL working on naps) she has slept through the night, only waking up rarely probably due to teething pain (she has 6 teeth!).  I still feel behind on food.  Friends of mine are already feeding their kids crumbled up food from their table and EV is the same age.  We're still on First Carrots, not a great example because I made her carrots and she HATED them.  There wasn't just a gross face, it was gagging and a look like I was trying to kill her with carrots.  So dramatic little one.  We just bought some stage 2 spinach and potatoes.  Anyways...I'm trying to get EV interested in something other than her bottle so I bought this sippy cup.

Yes, I was sucked in by the clever marketing of saying this is a beginners cup, a lot like her bottle so she'll be interested...blah blah blah.  Let me just say I filled the thing up with water this morning and it is still filled with water.  She sucks on it but never lifts it up to get the water in her mouth.  I'm going to try a straw next.

  1. I never start my kids on solids until they were at least 6 months and have them fully on table food by 10 months. You're doing just fine :), she looks healthy to me! As far as the sippy goes, just keep working on it. Emmersyn has been using one for 3 months and still doesn't quite "get it" but I know she will eventually and so will EV (Riley never used the traditional sippy, only used the straw sippys so maybe that will work better for EV).
