EV updates
Favorite toy: diapers and wipes. She has many new toys such as a baseball rattle, baseball version of squigly man, and ball with prongs that reminds me of an atom yet she still scoots her butt around to find where we keep the diapers and whatnot. However, she also tends to find the plastic bags that hold the next round of diapers...we are still working on baby proofing obviously. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Newest thing: she LOVES the zippers and ties on my sweatshirt. She is fascinated by them but really only wants to eat them. Whenever I feed her she will rake at them with her hands (I love this motion) and pull them. She also enjoys my hair and likes to pull on it, and everyone else's hair for that matter. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- New experience: seeing Ed without a beard for the first time (also no hair!). He shaved his beard, mustache, and head (a little hair left on the head) for my birthday. I had asked him to trim his mustache for me since I was tired of getting it in my mouth so when I woke up this morning I saw a bald head next to me. I grabbed his head and I'm sure my expression of priceless when I saw his face. EV and I both saw his face for the first time today. He had his beard trimmed for the wedding but never completely gone! He looks a lot like his brother now and we both agree EV looks like Danny as well. Ed says they have the same left ear, it sticks out. New people: EV has gone on multiple road trips! Hutch was great to let EV stay at the team hotel with us in Louisville. Ed and I took a whole day to drive down and stopped at the Cincinnatti aquarium. EV loved every minute! She loved the HUGE shark tank that went over your head. I wasn't sure if she would be able to comprehend what was going on but she saw the fish and followed them with her eyes. This past weekend Ed brought EV to Evanston to watch our Saturday game vs. Northwestern. Tracy, the field hockey head coach, allowed Ed to use her office to watch the game since it is in a prime location looking over the field. Thank goodness too because it was 18 degrees with wind chill!!!! There was no way she could come to the game without having the office. I loved being back in Chicago and Friday night I had the opportunity to hang out with Trishy. Saturday morning Ed brought EV to pick up Trishy and bring her to the game. The first time Trishy met Ed was the day of our rehearsal for our wedding so it was great that she got to spend time with Ed AND EV. After the game we met up with Jenny P at Mary Joy's house so EV and Theo could meet. Theo was sleepy so wasn't interested in playing but it was great to see EV meet another baby (more on another meeting later). After Ed and EV went home I got to visit more with Jenny. Ed is amazing since on Sunday he took her on a tour of the Marx-Schreiber family. First, church with Grandma Schreiber then down to New Buffalo to visit with Grandma Marx. Afterwards they stopped at the Russell's for a long visit. Amazing husband. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ New friends: I already mentioned Theo but this past week we took Evelyn to the downtown Ann Arbor library for the first time. They have a fun kids area with an big fish tank (of course she loved this) and an area with blocks. She enjoyed playing on the blocks and while we were there a 20 month old, Abigail, came over and wanted to play too. This was the first time EV had ever hung out around another young child. I wasn't sure how she was going to react. She's around a lot of adults but usually the same ones over and over, never kids. Like the adorable peanut she is, she smiled and smiled at Abigail! Abby wasn't sure of EV so didn't come over right away but EV barely looked back at us to make sure we were there. She only looked at us with a look that said, "look mom, someone to play with!" My little girl has the ability to want to meet everyone and warm to everyone...I wish I had that trait! Abigail's grandma was from England and kept saying EV was "chucklin'" so now we say that all the time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Foods tried so far: homemade squash w/ apple juice, smashed bananas, peas and sweet potatoes from a jar, prune juice and prunes. Up to try this week: homemade pureed apples!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Body parts she has found lately: her eyebrows are going crazy! I love when she looks at you and just raises her eyebrows like " what are you doing?" Also, she has started playing with her ears which I have not noticed before. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Favorite book: she loves Mr. Brown can Moo, Can You? Everytime I read it she looks at the pages but then when I make the noises she smiles first and then looks up at me with those beautiful blue eyes and shows off her two bottom teeth. I love it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Extras: She chose her bracket and had Tennessee winning the national title. They lost in the first round to Michigan. Better luck next year peanut.
